Ingredients:
- 4 cans 15 oz each navy beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
- 1/2 cup diced cooked bacon optional
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
- 1/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350F 175C
In a large mixing bowl, combine the navy beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using
Mix well to coat the beans evenly
Stir in the diced cooked bacon if using, chopped onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper
Transfer the bean mixture to a baking dish and spread it evenly
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the beans are hot and bubbly, and the top is slightly caramelized
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving
